If you are a building contractor doing work on behalf of residents within the Municipality of Oliver Paipoonge, you are able to deposit the construction or demolition waste at the Oliver Paipoonge Landfill Site if:
- The resident or property owner for whom you are doing work on behalf of has completed a Contractor Authorization Form for Use of Landfill Site, available at the Municipal Office or for download on the municipal website. This form authorizes the contractor to use the landfill site on the owner’s behalf.
- The owner gives the form to the contractor who completes the bottom of the form with the Business Name and address.
- The contractor presents the Contractor Authorization Form for Use of Landfill Site to the landfill site attendant.
There is a $75.00 fee that will be invoiced to the contractor to deposit the load at the landfill site.
If you are unable to attend the Municipal Office in person to pick up the new Landfill Access Card, please complete the authorization form, sign it, and give it to the person who you are authorizing to pick the card up on your behalf.
Under the Ontario Tire Stewardship Program, used tires generated from only residential/farm properties are allowed to be dropped off at the landfill site. Tires generated from a business/commercial property are not eligible. Businesses should contact Ontario Tire Stewardship at 1-888-687-2202 or visit www.rethinktires.ca to inquire about options for used tires.
Used tires coming into the landfill should be clean and off the rim if possible. Upon entering the landfill, report to the Landfill Attendant the number and types of used tires you have. The Attendant will record your access card number and the number and types of tires. This information is required by the Municipality for mandatory reporting to Ontario Tire Stewardship and to show that tires are only being accepted from residential/farm properties.
Place the tires in the designated area and barrel stack them, no more than 6 high. Stacking them in this way makes it easier for the tire hauler to count and load into the truck for transport.

Recycling
Landfill sites don't last forever.
The amount of debris going into the municipal pits can be reduced significantly by recycling.
If the pits continue to be filled at the current rate, both landfill sites will likely be closed within the next 20 years. Opening and closing costs are very expensive and the municipality will have to pay those costs by raising taxes.
Items that are recycled don't fill up the landfill!
Recycled items are trucked out of the landfill site for processing elsewhere.
What Can Be Done?
- Reduce the amount of garbage you produce in your home or business.
- Recycle what you create!
The Municipality of Oliver Paipoonge has a recycling program. View an easy to use guide of our recycling depots and allowable materials.
