Impact of Immigration, Foreign Workers, and Study Permit Changes on Local Businesses
Dear Employers,
The North Superior Workforce Planning Board (NSWPB) is conducting an employer survey to gather direct input on how recent changes to immigration policy, foreign worker programs, and international student study permits are affecting your ability to recruit, retain, and develop talent. The survey is intended to capture the real challenges and opportunities employers are experiencing as the labour market continues to shift.
By addressing immigration pathways, foreign workers, and international students together, the survey provides a more complete picture of the talent pipeline that supports local business operations. We are also seeking to understand how these changes may be influencing workforce planning, operational decisions, workforce diversity, long-term growth, and overall competitiveness.
These issues are especially important where many employers continue to face persistent labour shortages, an aging workforce, and difficulty attracting specialized skills locally. Immigration, foreign worker programs, and international students have become key contributors to meeting workforce needs across multiple sectors.
Here are the links to the English and French versions of the survey. The survey takes approximately six minutes to complete. The results of the survey will be published.
